standing in the rain

He sounds like a younger, less gruff John Mayer mixed with Adam Levine. With the writing style of James Morrison.

Today I tried to remember what my life was like when I was younger.
I couldn't.

Those days in the years 1991 - 1996 are like blurs to me. Like someone was living my life for me. I don't have memories of full days, or even at least an hour. I only think I recall something to find out that the memory I remember wasn't even mine to begin with. Just something I read about, or seen once in a movie.

The thought of it makes me feel, well, weird. Some people are lucky enough to remember things as far back as from when they were 2 and I can only remember pieces of my life from when I was 6 years old onwards.

It's like as though my brain didn't realize that it was supposed to remember things yet. Like my life was an unimportant tv show that you don't bother taping. Then probably, when I was 6 or so, something prodded my brain to start recording events of my life that seemed important.

So I was thinking, when do we start to lose memories? Does a time ever come when our brain selects what to throw away when there's an overload on memories? Maybe ultimately, Alzheimer's is when your brain does some spring cleaning.

I don't know where I'm going with this post. I think it's because I've been reading this pretty disturbing book of short stories.

Anyways, happy Sunday :D
